Four stars in the land of natural wonders, Transylvania
Ahogy a azutazo.hu beszámolt ma róla:
An island of tranquillity with the comforts of home in an iconic spot of Transylvania, between the legendary Gyilkos-tó Lake (Red Lake) and the mysterious Békás Strait: this is the Lacu Rosu Hotel and Restaurant. Where the proximity to nature, the fresh mountain air and the picturesque views guarantee the perfect relaxation. Moreover, due to the fact that Romania is part of the Schengen zone, we can now travel from Hungary to Transylvania without border controls.
Even the winter journey is an unforgettable experience, as the last stretch of the road, which turns off the motorway, takes you through charming Transylvanian villages. Then, climbing the Bucsin Pass and admiring the sky-high pine trees, we continue towards the Gyilkos-tó Lake, where a thick blanket of snow covers the majestic landscape.
Right next to the iconic natural wonder of Transylvania, Gyilkos-tó (Red Lake), is the majestic four-star Hotel Lacu Rosu, where the only sound of silence is the crunching snow as you walk out in winter. This fairytale setting is the perfect place for hiking, long walks, tobogganing and a romantic experience on horse-drawn sleighs.
The newly renovated, four-star Hotel Lacu Rosu, with its balconies overlooking the sky-high mountain peaks, is a paradise not only for nature lovers, but also for those who want to feel at home in every aspect of their exploration of Transylvania. This is why it is a great feeling that most of the staff guide and serve guests in Hungarian, while the hotel’s chef offers guests a range of international cuisine, as well as delicious dishes that use ingredients from local farmers and producers to bring you into the world of traditional Transylvanian delicacies.
A ten-minute walk from the hotel takes you to the beautiful Gyilkos-tó Lake, whose origins are linked to the legend of Esther, a beautiful young girl who calls on the mountains to stop a tyrant from conquering her. In response, a great shower and thunderstorm arose and the rocks moved down into the valley, burying everything beneath them. This is why the waters of the Killer Lake are said to be as greyish green as Esther’s eyes in the sunshine.
Hotel Lacu Rosu is the ideal base for exploring the natural wonders of the area, as well as for stargazing. One of the most spectacular destinations is the nearby Békás Strait, just a few minutes’ drive from the hotel. The pearl of the Onion Mountains is one of Europe’s unrivalled natural curiosities: its 250-300 m high, almost vertical rock faces offer a spectacular sight that makes it one of the most beautiful gorge valleys to visit in the Europe.
For all this, the Hotel Lacu Rosu is not only a comfortable place to stay, but also a gateway to the fascinating world of Transylvania, where every moment is about the wonders of nature and unforgettable experiences.
